T. Pinkie’s Floor, or “Lantai T. Pinkie” in the Malay version of the play is truly a successful play written by A. Samad Said based on his observation of the life in the early 1950s. It was staged for the first time in the World Trade Centre Auditorium Singapore on the 5th and 6th June 1996 and for several times in Malaysian theatre scene. It tells the story of T. Pinkie’s hardship who had to showcase her asset—the buttock in a very tight pink kebaya just to get men’s attention in the joget club.  It is set in a post-independence era when joget dancers in the club became men’s entertainment at night and sometimes to accompany them on bed too. These dancers, who had no other option in life but dancing, actually yearn for love and care from men but they were just merely men’s toy. Those men’s favourite at that time was T. Pinkie with her appealing buttocks, including Muhairi Tirus and the gangster Gunjoloh. Other strong characters in the play are Nyai Sunarti, a Javanese mistress to her Dutch master who hopes that her master will marry with her one day, Puteh Su, Jongkidin, Musalmah and Siti Udaya.
